“These homes are a game changer for our seniors — allowing them to stay in Thallon, close to family and friends, in housing that meets their needs.”
— Chair, Thallon Community Services
Challenge
Thallon is a small remote township in South-West Queensland (population ~231) where older residents face limited housing options that support ageing in place, particularly for those with mobility challenges. Traditional construction in such remote areas often faces delays, labour shortages, and high costs.
Solution
Oly Homes delivered two Livable Housing Australia (LHA) Gold–rated modular homes specifically designed for seniors, including those with limited mobility. Built at Oly Homes’ Yandina factory over three months, the homes were then transported to Thallon and installed efficiently, including driveways, fencing, and utility connections
Outcome
▪ Accessible, high-quality housing delivered quickly and with minimal disruption
▪ Residents remained in their community, supported by homes tailored to their needs
▪ The project offered a replicable model for delivering future-ready social housing in regional areas
